Learning that your pet is diagnosed with cancer can be a very frightening experience. The cancer care services available at the Furnetic veterinary clinic through the Chicago Center for Veterinary Medicine can help you and your pet through this difficult time.
Board-certified veterinary cancer specialists Dr. Tim Fan and Dr. Jackie Wypij from the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Urbana see patients at the Furnetic veterinary clinic typically upon the referral of your primary care veterinarian. Appointments are available every other Friday. During the weeks that oncology appointments are not offered in Chicago, your pet may receive chemotherapy or other services in Urbana.
But no matter where they see patients, our veterinary specialists focus on providing the best client-centered, compassionate care for your pet as well as the latest in cancer treatment. Our primary goal and commitment to you is to improve the quality of your pet’s life with cancer. The oncology specialists will also work with you and your primary care veterinarian to provide the best medical cancer treatment for your pet.
“Cancer” might be a scary word, but treatment doesn’t have to be.
Oncology services offered at the Furnetic veterinary clinic include:
- Second opinions on newly diagnosed cancers
- Bone marrow and other tissue biopsies
- Consultations on difficult cancers
- Alternate treatment plans for pets out of remission
- Individualized treatment plans that you and your pet can receive at your home veterinary clinic
The oncology services based at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Urbana include the latest surgical techniques and radiation therapy. Our veterinary specialists are developing new ways to battle cancer in order to prolong and improve your pet’s quality of life as well as to work toward a cure for cancer.
Additionally, because many similarities exist between cancer in humans and cancer in pets, our veterinary specialists are actively contributing to the understanding and treatment of human cancer through other comparative research.
